Learning 2.0

RSS feeds ... don't see the need. I know where to go for news and i know where to go for topics that are of interest to me. RSS feeds just seem to be "information overload to me". I don't want to know ALL the things posted on the internet about a topic -- there is so much garbage out there i don't even want to have to filter it.

That's fine but RSS feeds do lots more than jsut news. You can use them to keep up-to-date with other blogs, with comic strips, with any type of information that changes, etc. Some libraries use them for new books - if the History Dept. wants, we can create an RSS feed for new books with call numbers beginning D, E and F and they can put it on their History Dept. homepage. As new books are added, the site updates automatically.
fyi, there are also Clay Aiken RSS feeds - here's one:
http://www.rollingstone.com/artists/clayaiken
(Just google Clay Aiken rss to find other feeds)

I guess i was commenting on how useful these would be to me ... not in general. Clay stuff -- i don't want to see the RSS feeds -- i have tons of Clay sources that can and do filter out the garbage about him (which i do not care to see). To me, any benefits, outweigh the information overload. i kind of prefer to "google" for stuff i need at the point of need/desire.
